On Sunday, January 23, 2022, God in His Infinite wisdom saw fit to call Mother Elizabeth H. Millner to her Heavenly home. Born in West Virginia on October 8, 1931, she was the daughter of George W. Hodge and Katherine Norman Hodge who preceded her in death.
In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon R. Martin; one son, Anthony W. Millner; four sisters, and four brothers.
Elizabeth was a faithful member of Peaceful Zion Full Gospel Baptist Church where she was the Church Mother, a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Pastor’s Aide Committee, the Nursery Board, the Willing Worker’s, and the Kitchen Committee. Mother Millner retired as a self-employed caregiver with over forty years of service.
Those left to cherish her memory include: two daughters, Jewel D. (Ollie) McCray of Richmond, VA, and Loretta M. (Elder Darnell) Byrd of Axton, VA; two sons, Rousvell E. (Elder Glynis) Millner of Martinsville, VA, and Marvin S. Millner of Blackstone, VA; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Sylvia Millner; two special daughters, Teresa Dalton and Shelba Daugherty; two special people in her life, Katherine Boaz and Bradley Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at 12 noon at Peaceful Zion Full Gospel Baptist Church, 8860 A.L. Philpott Hwy., Martinsville, VA, with Bishop Howard Smith, Eulogist. Burial will follow at Morning Star Memorial Gardens, 2839 Stoney Mountain Road, Martinsville, VA. Viewing will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering, and social distancing is required. All other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home, 1650 Birchwood Road, Axton, VA. The family ask that when visiting the home, you observe all COVID-19 guidelines.
