On Monday, January 20, 2025, Mother Mozelle Dalton 102, of Fifth St., Martinsville transitioned peacefully at Stanleytown Health & Rehab Center. She was born in Henry County, VA on March 10, 1922, the daughter of the late Moses Dalton and Mary Martin Dalton.
In addition to her parents, Mother Dalton was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Ruth Moyer, one granddaughter, Octavia Prunty, five sisters, Constance Dalton, Azeal D. Saunders, Eula Mae Scales, Nettie Koger and Mary Virginia Dalton, and six brothers, Charlie Dalton, Theodore Dalton, James Dalton, Joe Henry Dalton, George W. Dalton and John Roscoe Dalton.
Mother Dalton was a faithful member of Divine Faith Holiness Church until her health declined her. While at Divine Faith, Mother Dalton served as Church Mother, the Usher's Ministry, the Nurse's Ministry, the Culinary Department, and attended Sunday School.
Those left to cherish Mother Dalton's memory include, three daughters, Louise Prunty (Wayne), Dorothy Gail Johnson (Willie) and Glendolia Price (Danny) all of Martinsville, VA; three sons, Ricardo Dalton (Hilda) of Martinsville, VA, Rudolph Penn (Diane) of Baltimore, MD and James Dalton (Gatha) of Martinsville, VA; son-in-law, Thomas Moyer of Eden, NC; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 11 a.m. with the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at Refuge Temple Ministries,205 Clearview Dr., Martinsville, VA with Elder Marshall L. Wells, Jr., Eulogist. Interment will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will receive friends at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Glendolia and Danny Price, 408 Fifth St., Martinsville, VA, between the hours of 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. daily.
