On Thursday, January 22, 2026, our beloved Mother, grandmother and friend, Mother Myrtle Napper Martin, 84, of Cardinal Lane, Martinsville, peacefully transitioned from this life at her residence. She was born in Martinsville, VA on July 2, 1941, to the late Steve Napper and Lillie Deshazo Napper.
In addition to her parents, Mother Myrtle Martin was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Zan Martin; great-granddaughter, Nevaeh A. Tarpley and sister, Iris Hairston.
Mother Myrtle Martin's life was marked by kindness, generosity and dedication to her beloved family and church community. She was a faithful member of Mt. Zion United Holy Church where she served on the Mother's Board. Mother Myrtle Martin retired from E.I. Dupont after many years of dedicated service.
Mother Myrtle Martin leaves behind a legacy of love, faith and resilience through her son, Jeffrey Hall of Chesterfield, VA; granddaughter, Enchanta Vaughn of Chesterfield, VA; two great-grandchildren, Abigail D. Tarpley and Gabrielle N. Tarpley both of Chesterfield, VA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette Street, Martinsville, VA. The burial will follow at a later date due to the inclemet weather. Pastor LaVarra Hagwood will be the Eulogist. Please be advised that the service is for immediate family and church members only per request of the family.
A public viewing will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. The family will begin receiving friends at the residence on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Live streaming of the graveside service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.
