Mr. Leon H. Gill, Sr., 76, of Martinsville, VA, transitioned on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at SOVAH Health- Martinsville. He was born September 5, 1943 in Martinsville, VA, to the late Sarah Mitchell Gill and Frederick Douglas Gill, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gaye Elizabeth Gill; six brothers, Frederick Gill, Jr., William, Donald, Clifford, Harry and Elmer Gill.
Leon leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Leon Gill, Jr. (Reba); his daughter, Catrina Gill; grandchildren, Brittany Gill, Brianna Warren, Cierra Warren, Devyn Gill all of Martinsville, VA; and Mandy Lee of Colorado Springs, CO; four great grandchildren all of Colorado Springs, CO; two sisters; Althea Gill-Brown of Martinsville, VA; and Shirley Gill Beasley (Bertain) of Richmond, VA; two brothers, Leroy Gill (Odessie) of Martinsville, VA; and Charles Gill (Cheryll) of Richmond, VA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was a member of Jerusalem Christian Church where he was in the Jerusalem Christian Church Choir and Men's Choir, Former usher, and Christian Men's Fellowship. Leon worked for Spic and Span Dry Cleaners, VM Draper's, VA Mirror Company, WMVA Radio Station and Tultex Inc. as a Supervisor for 36 years and he retired from Shenandoah Furniture as Supervisor with 15 years of service. Leon enjoyed attending antique car shows and collecting model cars. Leon loved his grandchildren dearly and loved spending time with them.
The visitation will be held Saturday, September 28,2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Jerusalem Christian Church and all other times at the home, 711 1st. St, Martinsville, VA. The funeral will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the church with Rev. Robert Smith, Officiating and Rev. Eugene Reynolds, Eulogist. Burial will be held in Carver Memorial Gardens, Martinsville, VA.

I am truly sorry to hear of Leon passing. I visited him in the hospital about three weeks ago and has known him for years ( mainly thru his niece Pam). Know that my prayers are with you during this rough time. Love and sympathy!!!

I’m sorry to hear the passing of y’all love one Mr.Gill was a nice man I remember talking with him at the nursing home when he was their I will be praying for y’all. Yall have my condolences
