On Saturday, November 16, 2024, Napoleon Redd 85, of Roundabout Rd., Martinsville, VA transitioned peacefully from this earthly life at his residence. He was born in Henry County, Virginia on March 27, 1939, to the late Charlie Redd, Sr. and Virginia Watkins Redd.
In addition to his parents, Napoleon was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Redd; two sisters, Laura R. Scales and Myrtle Redd Jamerson, and one brother, Bernard Redd.
Napoleon was a lifelong member of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee, President of the Benevolence Ministry, Sunday School member, and the church van driver until his health declined. Napoleon was a United States Army veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Homer Dillard Post #78, the Sportsman’s Club, a member of the Kuwat #126. and Sandy Level #274. He retired from J&J Southeast Container and the Henry County School System as a Bus Driver.
Napoleon leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Debra G. Adams and Kathy W. Hairston both of Martinsville, VA; two granddaughters, Lekeshia Williams of Axton, VA, and Kristel J. Hairston of Martinsville, VA; three great-grandsons, Josiah Clifton, Jonathan Williams and Jonah Williams; two sisters, Blanche R. Strickland of Ridgeway, VA, and Louise Redd of Martinsville, VA; three brothers, Charlie Redd, Jr. (Shirley), Darnell Redd, and Louis Redd (Barbara) all of Martinsville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA with Dr. Eric Hairston, Eulogist. Interment will follow at the Redd Family Cemetery, Old Chatham Rd., Martinsville, VA.
A public viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence, 1503 Roundabout Rd., Martinsville between the hours of 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. daily. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.

Mr.Redd was such a nice man. Every Christmas he would give the children on his bus at Rich Acres a two dollar bill. I have several that he gave my sons. My deepest sympathy 🙏
