Obituary For Octavia L. Prunty
Octavia L. Prunty, 42, of Warwick Landing Parkway, Newport News, VA departed from this life Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Sentara CarePlex Hospital, Newport News, VA. She was born December 30, 1980, to Lee Wayne Prunty and Louise Dalton Prunty.
Octavia graduated from Martinsville High School, class of 1998. She went on to attend National Business College, and graduate from nursing school in 2023. She was employed at Sentara Health Care as a patient access specialist. She was a faithful member of Divine Faith Holiness Church.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Elwood Prunty and Lillian Prunty.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include: her son Corwin L. Whitaker of the home; her fiancΓ© Corey Whitaker of the home; her father, Lee Wayne Prunty; her mother Louise Dalton Prunty of the home; maternal grandmother, Mozelle Dalton of Stanleytown, VA; two sisters, Monica (John) Hall of Richmond, VA and Cynthia (William) Prunty-Coleman of Danville, VA; one brother, Donald Prunty of Richmond, VA; best friend, Michele Draper; and a host of other family friends, and relatives.
A funeral service for Octavia will be held Friday, June 9, 2023, at 12 noon at Refuge Temple Ministries, Martinsville, VA, with Elder Marshall Wells, eulogist. The burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park, Martinsville, VA. A public viewing will be held Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Hairston Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends at 408 5th street, Martinsville, VA from 11 a.m. until.

Yes, I have lighting two candles for Octavia L. Prunty was one of a kind. I think of her with lots of smiles and laughter along with her serious face.
