Obituary For Patricia "Tickie" E. Via
On Monday. December 23, 2024, Deacon Patricia “Tickie” Eggleston Via 83, of Jeb Stuart Rd., Martinsville transitioned peacefully at her residence. She was born in Martinsville, VA on January 20, 1941, to the late Benjamin H. Eggleston, Sr. and Argatha Travis Eggleston.
In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her son, Steven Kelly Via, one brother, Benjamin H. Eggleston, Jr.
Patricia was a faithful member of Fayette Street Christian Church (DOC) where she served as a Deacon, Church Clerk and was President of the Senior Choir until her health began to fail her. She retired from the City of Martinsville as a Domestic Engineer and from Bassett Walker Knitting Company. She was a graduate of Albert Harris High School class of 1959.
Patricia leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Roy H. Via of Martinsville, VA; one daughter, Karen Penn of Martinsville, VA; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Katie Coles of Martinsville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA with Pastor Calvin Curry, Eulogist. Interment will follow at Redd Hollow Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 30568 Jeb Stuart Hwy, Spencer, VA.
A public viewing will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 665 Jeb Stuart Rd., Martinsville, VA. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.

Karen,I am so sorry 4 the loss of ur mother. I know how u feel, I lost my Mom last May 2023, I still haven't gotten over her bn gone n all.I still grieve, especially, around the holidays, that when it hurts the most. I am gonna miss ur Mom, especially, when u bring her to get her hair fix, from time to time, n how she would pic' @ me.I am gonna miss her, when I c u, I c her. She w/b sadly missed, but not 4gotten. Karen, I have known and loved you and your mom since our college days. Then your mom became a strong supporter for me while she and I worked at City Hall.
