Obituary For Paula E. Swanson
Paula E. Swanson, 65, of Dogwood Drive, Martinsville, VA departed from this life Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at her residence. She was born in Virginia, July 11, 1958, to Evelyn Hairston and the late Jeremiah Hairston, Sr.
In addition to her father Paula was preceded in death by one sister, Tonya Vaughn.
Paula was a college graduate with an associate degree in nursing as an LPN. She was employed by Mulberry Creek Nursing and Rehab as an LPN for many years. She was a former member of Refuge Temple Ministries under the leadership of Elder Alan Preston, later became a member under the leadership of Pastor Lisa Millner Little Ministries.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include: Her devoted husband of 31 years; Dwayne Swanson, Sr., her mother, Evelyn Hairston of Martinsville, VA; two daughters, Jessica Wingfield and Shemeka Barkley both of Martinsville, VA; one stepdaughter, Dorian Dillard of Roanoke, VA; one stepson Dwayne Swanson, Jr.; three sisters, Catherine Williams, Angentta Mattox, and Wanda Harrison all of Martinsville, VA; four brothers, Jeremiah Hairston, Jr., Vincent Hairston, Jeffery Hairston, and Lloyd Hairston all of Martinsville, VA; five grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Refuge Temple Ministries, 205 Clearview Dr., Martinsville, VA with Pastor Lisa Millner Little, Eulogist. The burial will follow at the Swanson Family Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Church Rd., Axton, VA. A public viewing will be held Friday, November 24, 2023, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. All other times the family will receive friends at the home, 816 Dogwood Dr, Martinsville, VA 24112.

Family, This is a tragic loss of someone so pure and kind in all she did. Paula loved unconditional and I always felt that love even from a far.
