On February3. 2024, God in His infinite wisdom called Roddrick O’Shea Wimbush home from labor to reward.
Rod or Roddy, as he was affectionately called by family & friends, was born on May 26, 1975 in Stuart, VA to Fara Mae and Vincent Wimbush.
Rod attended Patrick County Public Schools and graduated from Patrick County High School in 1993. He later went on to attend Norfolk State University. Rod’s enormous personality allowed him to make friends everywhere he went. His quick wit and animated stories often had people laughing to the point of tears. Rod never hesitated to say what was on his mind. He would boldly express his opinion on something one minute and burst out laughing telling a joke the next.
Through the years, Rod excelled in a variety of customer service jobs, from government contracting to the hospitality industry. He stood out among his peers as someone who would go above and beyond to meet the needs of others and help solve complex problems. In his spare time, Rod loved to hang out with family and friends, cook delicious meals, watch movies and dance. Rod’s charm, warm smile and sense of humor was easily received by anyone he encountered. He passionately loved and cherished his relationships with others, especially with seniors, and was very protective over his closest family and friends. His presence will surely be missed by many.
Rod is proceeded in death by his father, Vincent Wimbush, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Ruby Barbour Norman France and James Pannell, step grandfather, Richard S. Norman; paternal grandparents John Rufus and Nannie Vaughn Wimbush.
Rod leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Fara Mae Wimbush Hairston; his siblings: Janice Rahmaan (Leander), Shirleen Hylton, Vincent Wimbush (Dalzene), and Stephanie Scott (Kevin); nephews and nieces: Jeremy (Dee Dee), Erika (Corey), Brandon, Kishera (Chris), and Darian and a host of grand nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
A family visitation will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 12 noon to be held at The Greater International Pentecostal Assembly Building, 980 Carver Road, Martinsville, VA.
