Tracey Renae Cheatham departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at her home in Martinsville, VA. She was born July 10, 1991 in Petersburg Virginia to Gwendolyn Starkie and the late Arthur (June Bug) Cheatham, Jr. In addition she was preceded by her fraternal grandparents, Arthur Cheatham Sr. and Carrie Cheatham; maternal grandfather, William Starkie.
She was a 2009 Graduate of Martinsville High School. She attended ECPI in Greensboro, N.C. and also Patrick Henry Community College and she received her CNA license, Med license and Phlebotomist. Her Christian upbringing was rooted in Baptist denomination. She was baptized at a early age at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, VA, where she was a active member singing in the choir and also a praise dancer. She later moved to Martinsville where she was a member at High Ridge Baptist Church under the care of Pastor Ray T. Arrington. Tracey had the most radiant smile, she would always make you feel special. She enjoyed watching the "Golden Girls", and she was a Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a devoted mother.
Tracey leaves to cherish fond memories: a loving son, Markuarias Uzziah Lampkins; a loving daughter, Imani Reign Simmons ; a loving and devoted mother, Gwendolyn Cheatham King and devoted father, Phillip Michael King all of the home; God mother, Shirley Simms of Petersburg, VA; God father, Leo and Patricia Thompson of Bluefield, West, VA; one brother, Jamie Wimbush of Martinsville, VA; a sister, Ayana King of Portsmouth, VA; grandmother, Bessie Starkie; aunt, Carolyn Merritt of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; one uncle, William Hairston of Stoneville, N.C.; eight aunts, one great aunt, Hortensia Washington; ten uncles and a host of cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Noon at the The C.R.V. Hairston Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral with Minister Keshawn Niblett, Presiding. A public viewing will be held on Friday, September 11, 2020 from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. at The C.R.V. Hairston Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home. All other times, the family will receive friends at the residence, 809 Indian Trail.
All services will be held with the COVID19 guidelines for facial coverings and social distancing.
