On Sunday, November 17, 2024, Virginia Boyce 74, of Battery Dr., Greensboro, NC transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, NC. She was born in Martinsville, VA on November 28, 1949, to the late James C. Foster and Elsie Mae Rumley Foster. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by one brother, James Carnell Foster.
Virginia was a member of Refuge Temple Ministries where she served on the Culinary Committee. She retired from Sara Lee Knitting Company after many years of dedicated service. Virginia was a graduate of George Washington Carver High School class of 1968.
Virginia leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Harry Boyce of the home; one daughter, Melessia Simon of Greensboro, NC; one son, Andrew Patterson of Greensboro, NC; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruby Waller (Howard) of Axton, VA; two brothers, Minister Clyde Foster (Aurelia) of Martinsville, VA, and Edward Foster (Geneva) of Cascade, VA; special caregiver, Christa White of Greensboro, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 12 noon at Refuge Temple Ministries, 205 Clearview Dr., Martinsville, VA with Bishop elect Alan Preston, Eulogist. Interment will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens, 869 Parkway Dr., Martinsville, VA.
A public viewing will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral Home during this time. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.
