Walter Hayes Giles 75, 0f Stanleytown Rehab, departed this life on Monday, June 22, 2020 at SOVAH Health Martinsville. He was born May 20, 1945 in Henry County, VA the son of the late Walter Lee Giles and the late Gracie O. Martin Giles.
Hayes as he was affectionately known, retired from Yellow Cab after 25 years of service.
Walter leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Hazel Banks of Riverdale, GA; two sons, Jeffery Hayes Giles of Eden, NC and Christopher Leon Giles of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, Curtis Lee ( Bishop Chattie) Giles of Martinsville, VA and George Edward (Vanessa) Giles of Huntsville, AL; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, June 26, 2020 at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 1 P.M. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home with Minister Jeffery Giles, Eulogist. The family will receive friends at the home of his brother, Curtis Giles, 1665 Roundabout Rd., Martinsville, VA.

My dad was my best friend. He would always say boy don't be like me.he would get me an sister much as he could. I remember when he would be cute logs he'd tell move the car, I was only seven I'd say daddy I can't then he would get in an out me on his lap so I could turn the wheel as he gave it gas. Thank you pops for being a good friend an getting close as I could. Love you always.
Such a sweet man I can't believe I will never see him again. We spoke often when I would visit my brother at Stanleytown.
It was a pleasure to care for him while he was at Stanleytown Health and Rehab. I sure do miss him. Prayers for the family.

I remember him when I was a little girl he use to take my mama and me to the grocery store ,he will truly be missed. To the family Giles was a good man and now he don't have to suffer he's in a better place , my condolences goes out to all of the family.
