Walter Hughes, Jr., 75, of Martinsville, VA went home on Thursday, February 1, 2024. He was born in Martinsville, VA on November 4, 1948, to the late Walter Hughes, Sr. and Salle Belle Amos Hughes.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Elouise Hughes Hoggins, Ferne Hughes, and Pamela Hughes Blagman.
Walter was a graduate of Albert Harris High School. He was employed at Field Crest until retirement.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include: two sisters, Arlene (Danny) Hughes Swanson of Martinsville, VA, and Haley Hughes Hairston of Bassett, VA; a classmate, Constance Prunty; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A family visitation will be held Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home. With Reverend Leander Reynolds, Officiating. The burial will be private. A public viewing will be held Monday, February 5, 2024, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Hairston Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 20 Arrow Point Trail, Bassett, VA at all other times.
