On Friday, November 28, 2025, William Samuel King 83, of Elijah Circle, Martinsville peacefully transitioned from this earthly life to eternal rest at his residence. He was born in Martinsville, VA on October 7, 1942, to the late James S. King and Bertie Divens Cousin.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Hairston King; daughter, Kimberly King; two brothers, James L. King and Andrew King; and two sisters, Rubena K. Lloyd and Eva K. Hilton.
William was a faithful member of Evangelical Holiness Church where he was a member of the Music Ministry, and he was a member of the gospel group Genesis. William a graduate of Albert Harris High School class of 1960. He retired from Bassett-Walker Knitting Company after many years of dedicated service.
Those left to cherish his memory include his grandson, Stephon D. Jamison of Martinsville, VA; one brother, Richard L. King of Martinsville, VA; two stepsisters, Patricia Latham and Loretta Johnson both of Hampton, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Due to the possibility of inclement weather, the visitation service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville with Pastor Marvin Slade, Eulogist. Interment will be private.
A public viewing will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. The family will receive friends during this time. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.
