Winfred Glenn Moyer, 67, transitioned from his earthly life to eternal life, peacefully on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Carilion Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. He was born December 1, 1954 and was the oldest son of 5 children born to Esau and Mary Jane Moyer, who preceded him in death.
He graduated from Laurel Park High School, class of 1974. Over the years, his myriad of occupations included employment at Pannill Knitting Company, National Textile, Nautica, Warren Trucking, and of course, his all-time favorite, grass cutter extraordinaire. Winfred truly lived life βfull throttleβ spending time with his family and hanging out with his friends at The Shop. He was a friend to all and never went anywhere that he didnβt have someone laughing with his charisma and wit. In 1976, Winfred happily married his high school sweetheart Delois, who was his partner in life for 46 years.
Winfred is survived by his wife, 2 children Alisha (Ben) Gonzales, Winfred Moyer Jr. (Marckisha Martin); seven grandchildren Aaron, Alex, Isabel, Ernesto John Gonzales, Marckayveon and Marckiyah Martin, Jamil Foreman. He is survived by his sisters Linda (Aubrey, deceased) Dillard, Brenda Jean (Robert) Williams, Oleatha Dudley, and brother Kelvin (Felicia) Moyer; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Thursday, July 7th at 11:00 a.m. at the Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St, Martinsville with District Elder Sylvan Moyer, Eulogist. Burial will follow at the Moyer Family Cemetery, 314 Moyer Lane, Axton, VA. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 6th at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. In accordance with CDC, a face covering, and social distancing is required.
The family ask that you would drive your classic cars in honor of Winfred during the funeral service.
