Winfred L. βFleetβ Norfleet, aged 80, of Carver Road, peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at his residence. He was a deeply respected, kind-hearted, and beloved member of the community whose wisdom and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Winfred was born in Portsmouth, VA on July 27, 1945, to the late Clifford Norfleet and Una Mae Dillard Smith.
Winfred was a man of profound faith and a dedicated member of the Shiloh Way of the Cross Church. He took great joy in fellowship and serving his church community, living his life as a testament to his beliefs.
A hard worker who dedicated many years to his profession, Winfred retired from the Henry County Public Schools. He was also a loyal and long-term employee at Sara Lee Knitting, where he formed lifelong friendships and earned the respect of his colleagues.
His legacy of love, diligence, and faith will continue to live on through his family, friends, and neighbors.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Shirley Stockton Norfleet of the home; one daughter, Sherry L. Norfleet of Upper Marlboro, MD; one son, Nakia D. Norfleet of Martinsville, VA; one brother, Maynard M. Smith and his wife, Vicki of Accokeek, MD; one nephew, Robert Smith of Accokeek, MD; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. with the funeral service at 2 p.m. at Shiloh Way of The Cross Church, 938 Brookdale St., Martinsville with Bishop Travell Travis, Eulogist. Interment will follow at Rock Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 148 Stockton Rd., Martinsville, VA.
The family will receive friends at Hairston Funeral Home on Friday, June 12, 2026, between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will receive friends a the residence, 1305 Carver Rd., Martinsville.
