Bertha L. Anderson (Mary) was born on October 2, 1940 to the late Bernard and Corine Mack Williams in Ethel, LA. She was the sixth of eight children. She was baptized at an early age at Providence No. 1, Baptist church by the late Reverend Peter Nelson. As a young adult, the family moved to Baton Rouge, LA.
In 1955 Bertha met the love her life, Mr. James Anderson Sr., and soon after that they were inseparable. They were married and had six children. On December 31, 1989; Bertha became a member of Greater King David Baptist Church and remained a member until her unfortunate passing on January 3, 2026.
While raising her family, Bertha has always been a hard worker and a forever giver. For nine years, she was the owner of Town Talk Cafeteria on Scenic Highway in Baton Rouge. A few years after the death of her husband in 1980 she sold that business and became the Dietary Supervisor for Ollie Steele Burden Manor for over thirty-eight years.
Bertha was a great mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother, aunt, friend and a great leader of her community.
Bertha leaves to mourn her six children and her two bonus children, Ronnie L. Anderson Sr., (Conchetta) Queensbury, New York; James Anderson Jr., (Gearldean), Mitchell L. Anderson and Kevin L. Williams-Anderson, all of Baton Rouge, LA, Dina D. Williams-Davis of Central, LA and Ora Dea Anderson(Gerald) of Houston, TX; Kenneth J. Anderson Sr., (Shelia) of Baton Rouge, LA and Rita Anderson-Jones of Zachary, LA. one brother Raymond Williams, Sr., of Baker LA; fourteen grandchildren; La’Toris Wilson-Duncan (Kendrick Sr.,); Ronnie L. Anderson (Latriecia), La’Tesha Wilson-Drewery (Charles), Derrick D. Anderson, Damien Miguel Wilson Sr., Kimberly Holiday, Brandi Anderson, Dwan Robinson, Johnell Riley (Alisha), La’Toya Evans-Shurm, Keisha Britten, Jazmin Smith, Jazell Galloway (Dante) and Ceirod Wallace Jr., twenty-two great-grandchildren, ten great great-grandchildren, three God Children; Jasmine Duncan, LaDaisha, and Quintrell Anderson, a host nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Bertha is preceded in death by her parents; Bernard and Corine Mack Williams, her husband; James Anderson Sr., two sisters; Ora Dea and Daisy Mae Williams, four brothers; Burnell, Dan Bernard, Richard O’dell, and James L. Williams, three sister in-laws; Judith S. Williams, Bernice H. Williams, and Dorothy H. Williams; an aunt, Olivia M. Hayes, three uncles; O’dell Mack, Roosevelt Mack and Willie Williams; maternal and paternal grandparents.

To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Praying with my classmate, Denise and family for you during this difficult time; know that God is your strength and He won't fail you.
