My Dearest Donnie, I hope this letter finds you resting peacefully. This is one of the hardest letters that I will ever write. This morning as I read over the letters and cards that you sent me back in the day, I was reminded of everything I loved about you and how much you truly cared about me. From day one when we met at LA Tech in 1981 through now in 2020. Your friendship has never wavered. Your kindness towards me and my family will never be forgotten. Donnie you were family to me. I will always remember our fun times! Thank you for taking me to my first Mardi Gras and Bayou Classic. Thank you for caring and sharing your life with me and so many others! You were a wealth of information and you knew and touched so many people by just being you! I am so grateful that we got a chance to see each other again last year in Shreveport. Those of us in the "Harrell Williams" family will definitely missed Donnie. He was active in our reunions and felt comfortable calling any member of his family at any time. Everybody knew Donnie and Donnie knew everybody. Our next family reunion is scheduled to return to Baton Rouge but it will not be the same without Donnie's presence. Cousin, Carolyn H. Richardson

When Love has touched our lives, it remains forever in our hearts. Summer 2003 my husband and I traveled from Atlanta Ga.to Baton Rouge with our son and several other students and parents that were entering their first year at Southern A&M on Band scholarships. It seems like yesterday, once we checked in we went to have lunch at the Sheraton hotel, got off the elevator this young man started speaking with us and introduced himself with his business card as Donnie Smith, the rest was history, we had lunch exchanged numbers and have been friends since then. A very nice proud man that loved good conversations and we had plenty of them. Donnie we will miss you! Ether&Barbara Williams Atlanta,Ga.
