I visited your home twice about 5 or 6 yrs ago with my wife Claudette, my uncle dr dawson, and my 1st cousin Lawrence Mellion, I also moved Vallejo ca, about 10 yr after mr Gaines, and went to Vallejo Junior college, I also moved to San Francisco, and lived on The same street Divisadera st

I have never met Mr. Gaines, but I have two of his books, A Lesson Before Dying and A Gathering of Old Men. I enjoyed reading them both because he was a wonderful writer. I am so sorry for your loss. May God comfort his family as you mourn the loss of this great writer.
