Hilliard Caldwell

To Rena, Steve and the entire Caldwell family, words cannot express the sorrow I feel as I say goodbye to one of my favorite cousins, Hilliard. His presence in my life was a gift---one filled with laughter, warmth and kindness. He was more than family; he was a dedicated servant of the people and a source of unwavering support in the Carrboro and Chapel Hill communities during the turbulent school desegregation era of the 1960s. Though Hilliard is no longer with us, his legacy lives on in the hearts of all who loved him. I will carry his laughter, and family support with me always. May he rest peacefully, knowing his impact will never fade. Al, Marc and I say farewell, until we meet again.
