Sister Maxine Pruitt Beardon was born July 31, 1945 in Baton Rouge, LA to the union of the late Booker T. Pruitt and Nellie M. McKiney. She was the eldest of three siblings. Sister Beardon departed this earthly life peacefully on Saturday, August 29, 2020, in the comfort of her daughter's home, surrounded by her children. Even when her health began to deteriorate she never complained, she still responded by saying "I am fine." Sister Beardon accepted Christ as her personal savior and was baptized on August 21, 1955 by the late Dr. I.H. Warner. She was a faithful member of The Greater King David B.C. under the leadership of Dr. John E. Montgomery, II. She was a Prayer Warrior and served in ministries at the church such as, Sisterhood Ministry, Transportation Ministry, Sunday School Teacher, Alpha Alpha Christian Sorority, Inc., Usher Board II Ministry, Children's Church Instructor and Vacation Bible School Instructor. Sister Beardon was a retired Educator of the E.B.R.P. School System with 35 years of service. She was a volleyball coach at South Scotlandville, Progress Elementary and Ryan Elementary and a faithful member of the Scotlandville Area Advisory Council. Sister Beardon was a graduate of Southern University and A&M College and a follower of the Southern University Jaguars. Her memories of endearment will continue in the lives of her husband, Joseph Beardon; her children, Dr. Everette D. Pruitt (Valerie), Baton Rouge, LA, Cassandra S. Hill (Dr. Tory), Sweeny, TX and Vinita Pruitt (Berkita Wilson), Baton Rouge, LA; one brother, James H. Parkman (Annecia); one step sister, Deloris Dillon (Kara); one sister-in-law, Evangelist Edna Mae Beardon; two Godchildren, Sherelle Beardon and Phedra Griffin all of Baton Rouge, LA; 9 grandchildren, Robert Jenkins, Tiffany Jenkins, Dayshawn Garrison, D'Arby Christopher, Frederick Christopher, Krystal Pruitt, Khadija Thomas, Taylor Thomas, Shederika Blakes; 13 great-grandchildren; 6 Godsisters; 4 Godbrothers; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Sister Beardon was preceded in death by her parents, Booker T. Pruitt and Nellie M. McKiney; stepfather, Thomas McKiney; one daughter, Kimberly James; one brother, Charles E. McCray; Godfather, James Hudson, Sr. and Godmother, Elnora M. Hudson; one Godbrother, Norman L. Hudson and one Godsister, Bernice Williams. Visitation Wednesday, September 2, 2020 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Hall's Celebration Center, 9348 Scenic Hwy., Baton Rouge, LA. Visitation continues Thursday, September 3, 2020 9:00 am until religious service at 12:00 pm, New Light Baptist Church, 650 Blount Rd., Baton Rouge, LA. Dr. John E. Montgomery, II officiating. Interment Louisiana National Cemetery, Zachary, LA. Funeral Services entrusted to Hall Davis and Son.
