Wilfred Payne, Jr., age 79, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 12, 2022 at St Francis Hospital in Monroe, LA.
Wilfred was a native of Bellevue, LA and a resident of Carencro, LA for the past 54 years. He was employed with LA Frey & Sons for 21 years and retired from Bordens with 13 years.
Mr. Payne was the Patriarch of the family, a family he loved immensely. He always stated his greatest accomplishment was marrying the love of his life, (Dolores) his kids (Lisa, Rachel, Dwight & Shawn), grandkids (Michaela, Sydney, Shanea) and the added bonus great grandkids (Gabriela & Gabriel), anything after that were merely extra gifts. He was a man who reveled in lifeβs simplicities. He loved being outdoors, whether it was to simply enjoy beautiful weather while sitting in his rocking chair on the porch, working in his yard, barbecuing or building things with his hands. His silent passion had always been music (Blues & Zydeco) and for a select few he would take pride in entertaining with his guitar and vocal skills. Never a man of many words, his silence spoke volumes. His presence was one of comfort and his heart was a heart of gold.
He is survived by his Wife, Dolores Payne; Children, Lisa Payne-Grice (Nolan Grice) of The Woodlands, Texas, Rachel Payne-Brown(Andrew Brown, III) of Houston, TX, Dwight Payne of Baton Rouge, LA & Shawn Payne of Carencro, LA; Grandkids, Michaela Richard (Alexander Richard) of Spring, TX, Sydney McClelland (Christopher McClelland "Superman") of Houston, TX and Shanea Payne of Carencro, LA; Two brothers, Wilven Payne (Carolyn Payne) of Hillburn, NY & Leon Payne (Dianna Payne) of Opelousas, LA and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives friends.
Preceded in death by his Parents, Wilfred Payne, Sr. & Andria Malbreaux Payne; Brothers, Ashton Payne, Elridge Payne, Rogers Payne, Calvin Payne, Junius Payne, Richard Payne and Rufus Payne; Sisters, Hilda Taylor, & Hazel Charles.
