Born on April 6, 1939, Mr. Calhoun was blessed with 87 years of life, experiences, memories, and moments that became woven into the hearts of those privileged to know and love him. Though his earthly presence will be deeply missed, the memories he leaves behind will continue to speak through the lives he touched and the family and friends who will forever cherish him.

GONE FISHING, An Eternal Farewell

If someone should ask for me,
Tell them heaven is where I’ll be.
I’ve finished all my life’s chores,
And now I fish on heaven’s shores.

The view is grand, and the fishing’s great, But I yearn for you as I wait.
I’ll save a spot on the river’s bend,
For all those I call family and friend.

But for now, head to the water’s edge, And make a cast in my memory. Remember all the good times we had, With.

And if the fish no longer bite,
Or seem no longer worth the fight,
Because it’s me that you’re missing,
Don’t worry, be happy—I’ve gone fishing.

Though the fishing pole may rest, and his chair beside the water may now sit empty, the love, laughter, stories, and treasured memories remain. Let every quiet morning by the water serve as a reminder that a life well lived leaves behind more than memories—it leaves a legacy of love.

Today, we bid farewell to a beloved gentleman whose earthly journey has ended, but whose story will continue in the hearts of those who hold him dear. Until we meet again, may the waters be calm, the skies be clear, and the fishing always be great.
