Mr Art thur Turner, A loyal companion to our Lord and Savior. I met Mr. Turner as a member of St Johns Evangelist Catholic Church. A very distinguished gentleman. His mannerism was always kind with a gentle spirit, and great sense of humor. Mr Art worked behind the scenes with humility and made donations for St John's youth choir for trip to Rome, Italy. I had the pleasure of hearing the funniest back and forth golf stories between Al Cobb, his golf buddy and the photo king as Mr. Art called him, because golf was not Al's calling, with a laugh. I will remember Mr. Art as a very distinguished gentleman. My sincere condolences to family and friends . Arthur Turner Rest In Peace with our Savior Jesus Christ. Willencia Greene
"Mr. Turner"
I had the blessing of having Mrs. Turner as my 3rd grade teacher and then you pouring into me as a teen as the Principal of Lakewood High School. You were a great example of leadership and resilience. You were the only one who had more school spirit than me and I will never forget the lessons learned from you. Some of those times during my formative years have shaped me into the leader I am today. You shed wisdom, discipline and joy on so many. Now, take your rest, sir. It was an honor to know you. ❤️
Hey Big T!!! It's your daughter Tyra... I will miss our chats and all the Love and support you have shown me since the 6th grade. Thank you for being the best Bonus Dad ever!! Forever in my Heart!! Your only Daughter!
May he rest in peace. Prayers and love. Oran
Sorry for your loss you are loved my friend. May he rest in peace.
May he rip. Thank you for sharing your dad with the world. I know he did a lot of great things . Peace be with you and yours.
Dear BJ, My heartfelt condolences for your loss. I know this is an overwhelming time, and I hope Art's siblings have been a help with everything. Your dad was one of my closest friends since 1968—I was even at your house the day you came home from the hospital. Both your mom, Helen, and your dad were special people who raised you with strong values, honesty, and love. I was honored to speak at Art's life achievement award in Lakewood and to have coached you during that special season—he was incredibly proud of you. I will miss our conversations in Valdosta, reminiscing about the past, talking sports, and reflecting on the many lives we hoped to impact through coaching. The outpouring of admiration from others shows what a positive and lasting impression he made. You will get through this, and in time, the good memories will outweigh the sadness. You are a good son and a good man—just as your parents envisioned. If you ever need to talk, I'm always here. Wishing you peace as you honor him this Tuesday. Ed Rosen
Sorry for your loss. He was a great teacher and all around great guy. Always smiling and would great u with a hardy handshake. Bob Cook '76 LHS
I did not know Arthur but knew he was a wonderful man having Byron for a son. I am a fitness trainer and good friend of Byron`s in Phoenix, AZ. We have worked together for 20 plus years and everyday is a pleasure to see him walk in with a happy smile and special gym outfits! He has followed his father's character with his kindness to many people. My sympathies are with Byron and his family! Kitty Woodward
Mr. Turner, aka Big Bird. There isn't space to reflect on all the life lessons and kindness you and Mrs. (Helen) gave me/us. Big Bird would always over pay when I mowed his lawn, 20 dollars back in the day was well, money. The occassional use of his car on special occassions and you would never leave his home hungry or thirsty. I remember freshman football practice, his philosophy was practice was a beast because the games were fun the reward for all of our hard work. We also had a winning season. Most importantly he and his wife showed me Love and Kindness. Thank You Mr. Arthur L. Turner you helped prepare me for life and I will always hold you and yours near and dear to my heart.
Mr.Turner, You are one of the greatest men I've ever met. Our days growing up in Lakewood could not be what it was without you. I thank you deeply for your unwavering commitment to me and to the class of 1994. Your true legacy lives in my heart forever. Your light will never burn out for me. Thank you for everything you stood for, thank you for everything you were. Thank you for teaching me the greatest gifts. Fly high, although our world can't be the same without you, I feel safer knowing you're here watching us. Sending huge prayers to Mr. Turner's family, may you feel comfort in his beautiful self during this difficult time.

Coach Turner was more than just a coach; he was a mentor who never gave up on us. He was always fair, but it was his kindness after my brother Danny passed that showed his true character. He will be deeply missed. Rest in peace.
You were all of our hero as we walk through halls of Lakewood High School! You always believed in us and throw us a life vest when we found ourselves sitting in the office for doing something we knew was just silly!! Thank you for your guidance, support, and never giving up on us!!! You made us believe because you conquer every barrier with grace and fortitude!!! We are Piners!!!

My Neighbor And Friend...
Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Turner were wonderful. Mrs. Turner died several years ago and I attended her funeral at Harrington's in Valdosta GA when we resided there as fellow St. John the Evangelist holy Catholic church. Peace of Jesus Christ: Father, Son and holy spirit Lord God of Hosts ONE forever and condolences to their children and love ones please.
Mr Turner was a golfing buddy of our group for years before he stopped playing thanks for the fellowship and will be missed Dr Taylor
Mr. Turner was a positive person--always kind and caring, a faithful man devoted to his faith here at St. John the Evangelist. He recently received the Bishop Gartland Award for his service to our parish over the many years he was a member. We will truly miss him here at St. John. Well done, good and faithful servant.
Our staff will continue to keep your family in our prayers. We thank you for allowing us to serve your family.
