Rest in peace, Mr. Brian S. Brazill. Your legacy will live on in our hearts.
I am in shock. I'd just spoken with him the day before & he reminded me that he & Sharon were coming to visit Tony & me in Ghana soon. I was looking forward to their visit. Brian trained me as a GIU detective. He gave me the nickname "Shorty Forty." He was funny, jovial, compassionate, and easy-going, always advocating tolerance and empathy. Whenever he called me, his usual comical, quasi-anonymous salutation would be, "May I speak to Shorty Forty, Forty Shorty"? (An old, inside joke from our GIU days: One day, Brian saw my birth year on a document & realized I was in my 40s, not 30s, as he & others had thought. Hence, the name "Shorty 40." The name stuck. He had everyone calling me "Forty" from then on. My heart is heavy. I'm going to miss my colleague & dear friend. My sincere condolences to Sharon, Dana, Little Brian, Leon, Cedric & the entire Brazill family. Marlene Hinds-Creary (Shorty Forty)
