Safe in His Shadow: In Loving Memory of Our Mother
(Inspired by Psalm 91)
Now rests our mother, pure and true, Her gentle soul made all things new. Through every trial, storm, or strife, She walked with faith, she gave us life.
She found her shelter in the Lord, Her refuge strong, her sure reward. Beneath His wings, she made her home, No fear could shake her heart of stone.
The angels came at God’s command, To gently take her by the hand. No darkness touched her sacred rest— She sleeps now on her Savior’s chest.
And though our hearts are torn and sore, We know she lives forevermore. For those who trust, who walk His way, Are crowned with light and endless day.
So, when we grieve and feel alone, We cling to truths she always shone: That God is faithful, good, and near — A refuge strong, a presence dear.
Now safe in shadow, bathed in light, She shines beyond our earthly sight. A mother’s love, a guiding flame. Forever cherished, in Jesus’ name.
Thank you mom, for love, the lessons and you guidance, for we are the stars in your crown.
Final Care and Compassionate Services are being expressed to “the Family” by HARRINGTON FUNERAL HOME INC., with love, care, and uncompromising dignity.

Dear Debbie, While your earthly presence is no longer with us, your spirit will always reside with us particularly during family reunions. Your contagious smile and humor will be sorely missed. I find peace in knowing that you're in a better place; one that's free of pain or sorrow. I can imagine there's a Humphrey Reunion in heaven that you're no doubt attending. Rest in Heaven! Love, Keith W.
I am so shocked and saddened to wake-up this morning to this sad news. My prayers go out to the family. Debra went from being one of my most supportive parents at J. L. Newbern Middle School to becoming a cherished friend over the years. I look forward to seeing her again in the paradise soon to come and see her again. "I have hope toward God,...that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous(Acts 24:15).
My cousin Debra, the oldest daughter of my first cousin Louise Hampton was always sweet, kind and respectful as a child, teenager, adult mother and minister of God. I will miss her smile and conversations at family reunions and will always have a place for her in my heart. My condolence and prayers for the children, grandchildren and sisters during this mourning period. Cousin Lewis Moye
I'm so sorry for your loss. I worked with Debra years ago. She was a fun, loving good soul. She will be greatly missed.
Valdosta Family of Rev. Bell - Our hearts are broken to hear of Rev Bell's passing. What a joy, honor and much appreciation it was to know her and the love and faith that she imparted to us for being a part of his life during his tenure at VSU. Our deepest condolences and prayers are sent to each and every one of you. The Lord has her now and she is at peace, so let not your heart be troubled. Love and blessings. Cynthia, Martha and Marque'l.
I am so sorry to hear about Debra. I had the privilege of working with her at Valdosta Family Medicine for many years, and she quickly became my "work mama." She kept me straight, looked out for me, and shared her faith with anyone who would listen. Debra was a good Christian woman who loved her family and friends very much. She was always there to take care of anyone in need, and she did it with a big heart and that unforgettable laugh that could fill a room. She was funny, quick to tell you the truth, and never afraid to put you in your place when you needed it. I'm so grateful for the years we shared. She will be deeply missed but always remembered with love.
