Funeral service for Barbara Menifield, 61, of Opelika, AL, will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 605 W.E. Morton Avenue, Opelika, AL, 36801 with interment in Evergreen Cemetery, 1409 Monroe Avenue, Opelika, AL, 36801, Reverend Jerry Dowdell will officiate.
Mrs. Menifield, who passed away Friday, August 28, 2026 at the Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama, was born December 25, 1964, in Lee County, Alabama.
Public viewing will be Friday, September 4, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. β 6:-00 p.m.
Mrs. Menifield will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.
She leaves to cherish her memory: a devoted husband, Curtis Menfield of Opelika, AL; five children, Michael (Jamiisha) Preston of Valley, AL, LaBrandon (Keisha) Preston, Shanteria Bynum both of Opelika, AL, Decosmon Shorter of Atlanta, GA and Curtis Menifield, Jr. of Corpus Christi, TX; five grandchildren, LaBrandon Preston, Jr., Taylor Byrd, CaurβDae Wright, Taniya Byrd and Emannuel Floyd; one great-grandchild, Cailen Preston; two brothers, Thomas Leon (Regina) Preston, Jr. of Cusseta, AL and Donald (Loretta) Preston of Opelika, AL; one aunt, Claudia James of Atlanta, GA; one uncle, David (Mary Jane) Shealey of Los Angeles, CA; one sister-in-law, Shirley Harper of Opelika, AL; two brothers-in-law, Michael (Pamela) Minnifield of Loachapoka, AL and Willie Menifield (Linda) of Opelika, AL; devoted friends, Rhonda Webb, Rodney Roberson and Michelle Roberson all of Opelika, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Barbara was one of my patients. I found out that she had cancer when she came in a month or so ago. I had no idea. She was always so friendly and we always had good conversation and laughs. I will truly miss seeing her. I am so sorry for your loss of such a spirit filled soul.

I knew her and her family from a child when her family were living next door to my grandparents, Jim and Enthy (Granny) Robinson on So. 4th Street in Opelika.
