Funeral service for Darren Yancey, 57, of Lafayette, AL, will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 2457 County Road 28, Lafayette, AL 36862 with interment in the church cemetery, Reverend Terrence Holloway, Pastor and Officiating, Reverend Calvin Marshall, Eulogist.
Mr. Yancey, who passed away Friday, March 13, 2026 at his home in Lafayette, Alabama, was born April 20, 1968, in Lee County, Alabama.
Public viewing will be Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Family will be present from 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Mr. Yancey will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a devoted wife of twenty-one years, Julie Yancey; four children that he loved and cherished as his own, Terrell (Nikki) Avery, Tambara Avery, Steven Avery and Tynice (Jeremy) Murray; six grandchildren, Kynzley Avery, Cade Avery, CamRon Dooley, Kayden Dooley, Lauryn Murray and Lucah Murray; father, Fred Yancey; one sister, Joann Yancey; one brother, Dale Yancey; two aunts, Gladys Reese and Joann (Charles) Marbury; two uncles, Lloyd Jones and Johnny Yancey; father-in-law, Jessie Willis, Sr.; two-brothers-in-law, Jessie (Stephanie) Willis and Derrick (Kim) Willis; five nieces, Tanisha Yancey, Haley Willis, Olivia Willis, Cierra Calhoun and Tiy Tate; three nephews, Roy (Jasmine) Yancey, Juwain Shorter and Shiquan Tate; four great-nieces, Naomi Yancey, Alani Yancey, Skylar Yancey and Casiona Tate; two godchildren, Kassidy Payton and Christopher Payton; a host of cousins and friends.

Dear Lord words can't describe the heartbreak and hurt that I am feeling. I will miss you my brother. I didn't know that the last time we spoke was our last goodbye.
