Funeral service for Joseph Broome, 66, of Lafayette, AL, will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 30, 2024, at Sardis Baptist Church, 3294 County Road 51, Camp Hill, Alabama 36850 with interment in the church cemetery, Reverend Robert Frazier will officiate.
Mr. Broome, who passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at the Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama, was born August 26, 1958, in Chambers County, Alabama.
Public viewing will be Sunday, September 29, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Mr. Broome will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory: a loving wife, Annette Bailey Broome of Lafayette, AL; three children, Janeisha Broome of Camp Hill, AL, Demond Baily of Roanoke, AL and Boris Smith, Jr. of Lafayette, AL; mother, Emma Broom of Lafayette, AL; eight grandchildren, Jazlyn Coleman, Ja'Yona Broome, Ja’Miya Bailey, Kingston Gooden, Aurora Smith, Jakaivion Smith, Boris Smith III and Braxton Smith; two sisters, Marian Jones of Opelika, AL and Pastor Cecelia Broome of Lafayette, AL; two brothers, Edward Broome (Laella) and Caiaphas (Yolanda) Broome both of Lafayette, AL; mother-in-law, Ethella Bailey of Lafayette, AL; three sisters-in-law, Marilyn Bailey of Opelika, AL, Tangie Bailey of Lafayette, AL and Jeannette Bailey of Beulah, AL; five brothers-in-law, Thomas (Mattie) Kyles, John (Brenda) Bailey, Roger Bailey all of Lafayette, AL, Jerome (Crystal) Bailey of Lanett, AL and Antonio Bailey of Opelika, AL; three special friends, William Collier of Anniston, AL, Danny Pearson of Tuskegee, AL and Johnny Broome of Mobile, AL; his fur baby, Rona Belle; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Joe has been a friend of mine since 1978. We met at Southern Union and a friendship was born. I got know his family very well. I last saw Joe in June of this year. To the family you have my deepest condolences, and know that you all are in prayers. RIP MY dear brother

Deacon Broome was just an all around person. He loved his Family hard and he also loved working in Church. SARDIS Missionary Baptist Church will truly Miss him. Joseph and Annette were both such kind,loving people. Thinking of others and bearing gifts of love. My fondest gift from Joe was 20 lbs of country bacon at Christmas that came form a thoughtful heart.
