Obituary For Dorothy "Mama Dot" Smith Sweeney
Funeral services for Dorothy Sweeney, 79, of Smiths Station, AL, formerly Opelika, AL, will be at 1:00 p.m. (EST) Friday, July 28, 2023, at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 784 County Road 298, Smiths Station, AL 36877 with interment in the church cemetery, Pastor Jeffery McCauley will officiate.
Mrs. Sweeney, who passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023 at the Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama was born September 17, 1943 in Darlington, South Carolina.
Public viewing will be Thursday, July 27, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. (EST)
Mrs. Sweeney will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.
She leaves to cherish her memory: three children, Jacqueline “Terry” Smith, Marcus Peter Thomas, Jr. and Claudette “Pinky” (Byron) Weeks; nine grandchildren, Tremaine Thomas, Atarie Smith, Crystal Smith, Andre Marcus, Kyle (Tasha) Weeks, Trista (Eric) Lewis, Altonese Smith, Kensle Smith and Theon Smith; special grandson, Antonio Mitchell; sixteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Rosa Lee Lewis; one aunt, Sally Price; a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
