Obituary For Doyal “Hawk” Moss, Jr.
Funeral service for Doyal Moss, 73, of Opelika, AL, will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Harris Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Garden Hills Cemetery, 1218 Frederick Road, Opelika, AL, 36801, Reverend Gary Dixon will officiate.
Mr. Moss, who passed away Monday, May 26, 2025 at his home in Opelika, Alabama, was born January 7, 1952, in Chambers County, Alabama.
Public viewing will be Friday, May 30, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Doyal leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife of 39 years, Joyce L. Moss of Opelika, AL; one son, Omarios Thomas of Mobile, AL; four daughters, Andrea Moss, Cheryl Adams both of Valley, AL, Carletta (Jessie) Phillips and Minnie Moss both of Opelika, AL; seven granddaughters; Megan (Travion) Spell, Mallory Moss, Jasmine Bell, Carlia Boyd, Makaila Adams, Zaniah Feltio and Kelonda Koen; three grandsons, Keedrick Adams, Keyshawn Tolefree and Jamarcus Phillips; three great-grandchildren; three bonus daughters, Kalitha (Claude) Reynolds, Shannon (Earnest) Swanson and Yolanda Ratchford; a bonus son, Leroy Tolefree; one sister, Geneva Webb of LaFayette, AL; one brother, Billy Jo Jackson of Atlanta, GA; four sisters-in-law, Annette Davis, Susan (Willie) Hughley, Judy Holloway and Ester Williams; two brothers-in-law, Charles (Jen) Holloway and Tommy (Sandra) Holloway; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Doyal shared special friendships with David Wallace, Michael Shaver, and James Holloway, whose companionship he deeply valued.

To Joyce and all the family members, Doyle will truly be missed. His sense of humor wonderful, and his ability to dance was amazing. I remember many, many years ago we were all at an event and Doyle and I had the dance floor. We "cut the rug" and the saying goes. Joyce, Judy and several others were there to enjoy that wholesome time. R.I.P. RESURRECTION IN PARADISE. Jesus will call and that in Jehovah God's memory will awaken!!!! Just Around the Corner.
