Funeral service for Etta Torbert, 83, of Opelika, AL, will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Green Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 390 Lee Road 106, Auburn, AL 36830, Reverend Roland Austin, Pastor, Bishop Kenneth Carter, Officiating.
Mrs. Torbert, who passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024, at her home, was born October 27, 1940, in Lee County, Alabama.
Public viewing will be Friday, October 11, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. β 6:00 p.m. The family will be present from 5:00 p.m. β 6:00 p.m.
Mrs. Torbert will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.
She leaves to cherish her memory: three children, Shelton (Yvette) Torbert of Madison, AL, Wanda (Walter) Moore of Opelika, AL and Timothy Torbert of Tuskegee, AL; nine grandchildren, Tywanna (Chris) Lewis, Marcus Torbert, Kendravious Torbert, Martavious Torbert, Keyonna Torbert, Shalicia Torbert, Shambria Moore, Demond (Ashley) Moore and Shelton Torbert, Jr.; ten great-grandchildren, Tyasia, Bakari, Taylor, Ty'Quavion, Ashton, Malik, Cameron, Journee, Akelen, and Aryan; two great-great-grandchildren, Messiah and Jaice; a brother-in-law, Harvey (Rosie) Torbert of Opelika, AL; seven sisters-in-law, Gladys Reese, Darlene Torbert both of Flint, MI, Eva Mae Coleman of Winter Garden, FL, Lizzie Jean Ford of Cleveland, OH, Sarah Nell Coleman of Tuskegee, AL, Ezella Torbert and Annie Lou Torbert both of Opelika, AL; two special friends, Ocie Jefferson and Thelma Holcey, a special cousin, Corrine Woodson; faithful and loving caregivers, Geraldine Claybron, Tyra Morgan, Caroline Cook and Tasha Paradise; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
