Obituary For Henry "Hen" Carr

Funeral service for Henry Carr, 59, of Opelika, AL, will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Harris Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Bethel No.1 Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 2324 Double Hill Road, Opelika, AL 36801, Elder Catherine Newkirk will officiate.

Mr. Carr, who passed away Sunday, August 9, 2026 at his home in Opelika, Alabama, was born September 20, 1966, in Macon County, Alabama.

There will be no public viewing.

He leaves to cherish his memory: significant other whom he loved dearly, Sophronia Thomas of Opelika, AL; three sisters, Catherine Newkirk, Debbie Preston and Mona Preston all of Opelika, AL; one brother, J.D. (Michelle) Carr, Jr. of Deerwood, MD; six aunts, Mildred Wright of Boston, MA, Dorothy Gibson and Bessie Preston both of Opelika, AL, Mae Knight Preston of Dadeville, AL, Alice Preston of Columbus, GA, and Bertha (Warren) Koen-Tyus of Olympha Fields, IL; two uncles, Lorenza (Linda) Preston of Lithonia, GA and Jimmy (Turetha) Preston of Montgomery, AL; one sister-in-law, Diane Preston of Auburn, AL; Caden Foreman whom he considered a grandson of Valley, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family of the late Mr. Henry Carr acknowledges with grateful appreciation all acts of kindness, prayers, cards, telephone calls, flowers, and words of comfort extended to us during our time of bereavement. May God bless each of you.
