The Drifter's Melody
The time soon comes for parting, And our time is at an end. The rest of your life is starting, And we have no time at all to spend.
You knew one day you'd have to go, But thought you'd have more time. We can't reverse time's one-way flow, But at least you'll have this rhyme.
You had your shining moments, Upon this life's darkened stage, And in my book of wonderments You'll never be just another page.
Like the exploding of a star, You've changed us in and out. Your light will travel with us far, Past when all other lights go out.
You will be sincerely missed Ms. Jackie!

Jackie was my dearest friend and a blessing from God. We met in middle school and our friendship and loyalty was so strong because we had "Friendship honor."
Because we played so many jokes on each other, Jackie and I came up with the term "Friendship honor" for whenever we needed to come clean about something.
Sometimes we skirted around friendship honor by saying, '' You ain't my friend! " If friendship honor was questioned. But we would always come back to ''Friendship honor" and the truth.
We celebrated our friendship and enjoyed each other's company while singing in the high school choir, hanging out with friends after school, talking about the latest MTV videos and working at Denny's restaurant-our first real paying job. Jackie was a waitress and I was a dishwasher.
We both drove Chevrolet Chevettes and would carpool whenever we ever had the same work schedule or just wanted to hang out. If we were driving and a song came on the radio that we both liked, we would hurriedly find a parking lot, jump out the car and just start dancing. True laughter and fun!
Around graduation time, Jackie went on to work at multiple stores at the Village Mall including Lots to Love, Blockbuster Music and Things to Be Remembered.
Whenever I visited her from college, she would have a stack of Blockbuster promotional CDs saved just for me. Jackie would laugh and say, "No one wanted those weird music CDs, but I knew you would." She was right.
She knew me like a book and was always there for me in my brightest and darkest moments. Jackie knew how to hold up the light.
When I graduated from college, she was there and gave me an engraved brass mug from Things to be Remembered that I have on my desk to this day. We have an unbreakable bond because we've share so much in common. We both understood what was most important in life. Our love of God, family, friends, music, laughter, and good food.
I will always love you my dear "Hun."
May you Rest In Peace.
