Obituary For James Edward "Ed" Caldwell

Funeral service for James Caldwell, 80, of Opelika, AL, will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Bethel No.1 Missionary Baptist Church, 2324 Double Hill Road, Opelika, AL, 36801 with Military Honors in Evergreen Cemetery, 1409 Monroe Avenue, Opelika, AL, 36801, Reverend Sharrod Coleman, Pastor, Reverend Gary L. Dixon, Eulogist.

Mr. Caldwell, who passed away Saturday, September 5, 2026 at his home in Opelika, Alabama, was born December 12, 1945, in Macon County, Alabama.

Public viewing will be Friday, September 11, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:-00 p.m.

Mr. Caldwell will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of fifty-seven years, Doris Faye Caldwell of Opelika, AL; a daughter, Cindy Renee Caldwell of Opelika, AL; a son, Christopher Edward Caldwell of Opelika, AL; a sister, Glenda Carter Blackman of Buffalo, NY; a brother, Theodore Carter of Marion, VA; a host of other family members, friends and acquaintances.

The family of the late Mr. James Edward Caldwell acknowledges with grateful appreciation all acts of kindness, prayers, cards, telephone calls, flowers, and words of comfort extended to us during our time of bereavement. May God bless each of you.
