Obituary For Jimmie Lou Baker
Funeral service for Jimmie Baker, 92, of Opelika, AL, will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 18, 2026, at Greater Peace Missionary Baptist Church, 650 Jeter Avenue, Opelika, AL 36801 with interment in Garden Hills Cemetery, 1218 Frederick Road, Opelika, AL 36801, Reverend Clifford E. Jones will officiate.
Mrs. Baker, who passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at the Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama, was born December 21, 1933, in Lee County, Alabama.
Public viewing will be Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Mrs. Baker will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.
She leaves to cherish her legacy of many memories: four daughters, Belinda (Michael) Pink, Joann Baker, Gloria Baker and Geralene (Carl) Johnson all of Opelika, AL; one son, Michael (Dawn) Baker, Sr. of Mobile, AL; nineteen grandchildren; forty great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Willie (Marinne) Baker of Auburn, AL; three sisters-in-law, Patricia (Keith) Gibson of Jackson, TN, Vickey (Douglas) Foreman and Shirley Baker of Opelika, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her Greater Peace Church Family.
