John Lee was a one-of-a-kind person. Hard working, honest, dependable, a great sense of humor, and a whole lot more.
One a personal basis (me–Bob Schafer) John Lee helped me make so may things happen that as I look back I can't count them all. John Lee would kid me that I was a farm boy, but that he could outwork me! I will be forever grateful for John Lee Rowell!
On another front John Lee was of incredible help to the Heart of Dixie Amateur Radio Society, an amateur radio club. That included building concrete bases for radio towers, erecting radio towers, putting radio antennas on top of the radio towers, trenching to install conduit and pulling various cables through the conduit, and stringing wire antennas over the tops of trees, over the hay field, and through the timber. John Lee made the impossible possible and the Heart of Dixie Amateur Radio Society will always be grateful for his work.
Important to all of us is that John Lee was always just part of a team making things happen. He enjoyed that role and we all enjoyed having him as a part of the team.
In our amateur radio world John Lee is now a "Silent Key"
