Funeral services for Josie Lee Dowdell Alexander, 85, of Auburn, AL, will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 12, 2023, at True Deliverance Holiness Church, 936 North Donahue Drive, Auburn, AL, 36830 with interment in Westview Cemetery, 700 Westview Drive, Auburn, AL, 36830, Bishop Nolan Torbert will officiate.

Mrs. Alexander, who passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023 at the East Alabama Medical Center was born October 18, 1937, in Lee County, Alabama.

Public viewing will be Friday, August 11, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Mrs. Alexander will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: husband, Lewis Frank Alexander of Auburn, AL; five children, Jeanette Johnson, Wilma (David) Core, Lewis Frank Alexander, Jr., Louie Lee Alexander all of Auburn, AL and Melissa Ann Alexander of Opelika, AL; thirteen grandchildren, Timothy (Monica) Dowdell, Nicolas (Tawana) Dowdell, Antonial Alexander, LaTorya Walker, Jadez (Jasmine) Menifee, Kendrell Alexander, Kenyatta Alexander, LaShawn Alexander, Lakeisha Heard, Lamarcus Heard, Latravius Heard, Lakyhia Walker, Danielle Core; twenty-great-grandchildren; three brothers, George Dowdell, Lewis Dowdell both of Auburn, AL and James (Carolyn) Dowdell of Union Springs, AL; one aunt, Lula Mae Floyd of Loachapoka, AL; two nieces as granddaughters, Quientasha Dowdell of Auburn, AL and Aleshia Dowdell of Opelika, AL; two nephews as grandsons, Tacorya Wright of New York, NY and Dekoven (Arnesha) Dowdell of Auburn, AL; four brothers-in-law, Billy Haygood, Willie Fleeton, David Fleeton and Thomas Phifer all of Hayneville, AL; five sisters-in-law, Christine Cooper, Clarinet Haygood both of Montgomery, AL, Sallie Lue Alexander of Hayneville, AL, Bessie Brigham and Mary McConior both of Atlanta, GA; two devoted friends, Maggie Story and Daisy Shealey both of Auburn, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
