Funeral service for LaFrederick Spence, 48, of Opelika, AL, will be at 12:00 noon, Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 2000 South Uniroyal Road, Opelika, Alabama 36804, Reverend Dr. George C. McCulloh will officiate.
Mr. Spence, who passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama, was born January 27, 1978, in Chambers County, Alabama.
Public viewing will be Friday, July 24, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Family will be present from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Mr. Spence will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory: his devoted wife, Arlene Thelon-Spence of Opelika, AL; five children, Jayla Spence of Atlanta, GA, Khaci Spence, LaFrederick “LJ” Spence, Jr., both of Opelika, AL, Taisiara Thelon of Union Springs, AL and Aiden Thelon of Opelika, AL; five beloved grandchildren, Gianni Simpson, Giovanni Simpson, Giano Simpson all of Atlanta, GA, Josiah Northcutt and Wynter Sellers both of Union Springs, AL; two sisters, Startesha Spence of West Point, GA and LaShonda Morris of Reno, NV; four uncles, Reverend Jerome (Tonya) Spence of Dadeville, AL, John W. Trammell, Michael Tramell all of West Point, GA and Bobby (Nikita) Trammell of Atlanta, GA; five aunts, Robin Webb of West Point, GA, Karen (Harold) Frazier, Eulah Swinney, Beulah (Terence) Doby all of Douglasville, GA and Marilyn (Val) Knight of Fairburn, GA; his father- and mother-in-law, Pierre and Mary Thelon Sr. of Miami, FL; five sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; devoted friends, Kendell (Hilary) Smith of Auburn, AL, Ramon Dobson of Detroit, MI, Thomas (Terry) Huff of Tuskegee, AL and Terrance Bogan of Atlanta, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, former players, co-workers, other relatives and friends.
