Funeral service for John Harris, 71, of Opelika, AL, will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2023, at St. Luke A.M.E. Church, 1308 Auburn Street, Opelika, AL 36801 with interment in Evergreen Cemetery, 1409 Monroe Avenue, Opelika, AL 36801 Reverend Monique Summers will officiate.
Mr. Harris, who passed away Sunday, January 15, 2023 at Piedmont Healthcare in Columbus, Georgia was born January 18, 1951, in Lee County, Alabama.
Public viewing will be Friday, January 20, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. β 6:00 p.m. (Facial covering is required).
Mr. Harris will lie in repose one hour at the church prior to the service.
He leaves to cherish his memory: six children, John Andrew Harris, Jr., of Opelika, AL, Wesley (Winona) Harris of Wyandanch, New York, Monique Harris of Columbus, GA, Andrew Harris of Opelika, AL, Andrea (Tyree) Henderson of Opelika, AL and Reneka Harris of Columbus, GA; two sisters, Jacqueline (Ephesians) Strickland of Opelika, AL and Selina Dillard of Columbus, GA; step-sister, Ida (Marshall) Carter of Opelika, AL; sister-in-law, Willie Ella Harris of Tuskegee, AL; seventeen grandchildren, three great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
