“LC” as he was affectionately known, was educated in the Lee County School System and graduated from J. F. Drake High School Class of 1966 and then went on to attend Alcorn State University on a Baseball Scholarship. He was later drafted into the Army where he served in the Vietnam War and received an Honorable Discharge.
Upon his return from the war, he worked in law enforcement throughout Lee County with Auburn University, the City of Auburn, and the Lee County Sherriff’s Office. LC later moved to Dothan, Alabama where he continued his studies and graduated from Troy University and worked for 39 years as a State Trooper and Revenue Law Enforcement Officer for the State of Alabama. LC never met a stranger and knew everyone. He enjoyed spending his days hunting, fishing, spending time with his grandkids, and talking to his old high school classmates.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a son, Rodney (Tressy) Thomas of Auburn, AL; two daughters, Pamela (Rod) Torbert of Huntsville, AL, and Yvette Thomas of Dothan, AL; three beloved grandchildren, Jasmine Thomas, Maya Thomas and Jackson Thomas all of Auburn, AL; one great-grandson, Tyler Thomas of Auburn, AL; two brothers, Jesse Thomas of Atlanta, GA, and Munroe Thomas of Tuskegee, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
