Lessie Vinson Cooper: Funeral service for Lessie Cooper, 71, of Columbus, GA, formerly of Salem, AL, will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Harris Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Garden Hills Cemetery, 1218 Frederick Road, Opelika, AL 36801, Bishop Henry Ligon will officiate.
Mrs. Cooper, who passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, Georgia, was born August 26, 1953, in Lee County, Alabama.
Public viewing will be Friday, May 9, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory: two daughters, Gloria (Jimie) Bornett of Mt. Dora, FL and Linda Faye Cooper of Columbus, GA; six grandchildren, Sara Bornett of Apoka, FL, Timyetta Cooper of Opelika, AL, Ja’niya Johnson Cooper of Baton Rouge, LA, Shantavis (Samantha) Bornett of Apoka, FL, Cordelro Bornett of Davenport, FL and Jimie Bornett, Jr. of Mt. Dora, FL; one great-grandson, Stefan Timothy Bornett of Apoka, FL; one sister, Reverend Dr. Margaret (Harvey) Walker of New York City, NY; two sisters-in-law, Mary (James) Stinson and Gloria (Chris) Beard both of Opelika, AL; one brother-in-law, George Walton of Opelika, AL; devoted friend, Ernie Brooks of Phenix City, AL; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
