Funeral service for Linda Avery, 68, of Opelika, AL, will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Harris Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Evergreen Cemetery, 1409 Monroe Avenue, Opelika, AL 36801, Reverend Roger Jones will officiate.

Mrs. Avery, who passed away Friday, August 30, 2024 at her home in Opelika, AL, was born June 26, 1956, in Lee County, Alabama.

Public viewing will be Tuesday, September 3, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

She leaves to cherish her memory: a devoted sister and caregiver, Barbara Edwards of Opelika, AL; three children, Willie (Kahlila) Avery, Jr., Timaka Avery and Listasha Avery all of Opelika, AL; ten grandchildren, Marquis Banks, DeVonte Rush, Alexis Cooks, Carnary Avery, Taraven Avery, Starkeita Greathouse, Byron Greathouse, Jr., Makalia Baker, Jhomarria Card and Canorria Avery all of Opelika, AL; four great-grandchildren, Nyla Greathouse, Kei’Lani Greathouse, Khalya Merrill and Byron Greathouse III all of Opelika, AL; three sisters, Barbara (Johnny) Edwards of Opelika, AL, Andrea Mindy of Deer Park, NY and Yvette McMarshall of Riverdale, GA; four brothers, Bennie Fergerson of Chattanooga, TN, Ricky (Cynthia) Cooks of Mobile, AL, Anderson Kinsey and Keith Kinsey both of Deer Park, NY; a host of cousins as siblings that she grew up with on York Street; a bonus granddaughter, T’mayah Shaw; a special niece, Mercedes Edwards of Opelika, AL; a special nephew, Justin Edwards of Opelika, AL; two special cousins as nieces, Latoria Isabel of Opelika, AL and Shonita (Raymond) Mosley of Riverdale, GA; three special friends, Willie Thomas, Geraldine Knight and Reverend Roger Jones all of Opelika, AL; her fur baby, Louis Avery; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
