Funeral service for Linda Patterson, 69, of Opelika, AL, will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 21, 2025, at Bethel #2 Missionary Baptist Church, 1785 Lee Road 29, Opelika, AL, 36804 with interment in Garden Hills Cemetery, 1218 Frederick Road, Opelika, AL, 36801, Reverend Michael Heard will officiate.
Mrs. Linda, who passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama, was born July 25, 1955, in Lee County, Alabama.
Public viewing will be Sunday, July 20, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. The family will be present to receive visitors from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Mrs. Patterson will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband, Larry Bernard Patterson Sr.; two children, Lateshia Lashawn Cannon (Gregory) of Opelika, AL and Larry Bernard Patterson Jr. (Cabrea) of Snellville, GA; two grandchildren, Larry Bernard Patterson III (“King”) and Vivian Joyce Patterson; one brother, Johnny Anderson (Debra) of Crawford, AL; four sisters, Aritha Baker of Salem, AL, Mary Cunningham of Avon, OH, Mary Jean Anderson and Lucille Baker both of Cleveland, OH; aunt, Dorthy Patterson of Opelika, AL; uncle, Larry Tobias (Nellie) of Jackson, MS. Her love and connection to family ran deep, and she shared a special bond with her cousins, Sandra Bullard, Bertha Mae Hughley, Willie L. Darby, Genera Anderson and Eugene Anderson. Her in-laws, Loretta Farmer, Brenda Farmer, Leon Farmer Jr. all of New York City, NY, Cathy Davis of Norfolk, NE, Michael Davis (Marilyn) of Minneapolis, MN and Myrtis Anderson of Opelika, AL. Her circle of friendship radiated with love and laughter, including: Nancy Davis, Annie Whately, Nina Torbert, Silvia Stringer, Mattie Newsome, Annette Hatcher, Debroah Fraizer, Agnes Cason and Julia Martin; a beloved godson, Nicolas Tate who continues to honor her memory with love and devotion; Linda cherished her dogs, Sport (Pit Bull), Twinkle (Pekingese), Sophie (Boxer), Lulu and Rock (German Shepherd); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins church members and friends.
The family of the late Mrs. Linda Joyce Anderson Patterson acknowledges with grateful appreciation all acts of kindness, prayers, cards, telephone calls, flowers, and words of comfort extended to us during our time of bereavement. A heartfelt special thanks is extended to: the devoted healthcare professionals and caregivers who supported Mrs. Linda with grace and tenderness, Dr. Rekha Lall, Dr. Louis Pineda, Dr. Charles Thomas, Dr. James Cunningham; Nurse Cheryl Barton of Davita Dialysis; the dedicated staff of the ICU at Piedmont Midtown in Columbus, GA; and the compassionate team at Bethany House in Auburn, AL. Their care and kindness during her journey brought peace to Mrs. Linda and comfort to her loved ones and will be forever appreciated. May God bless each one of you.
