Funeral service for Mary Bell Smith, 78, of Auburn, AL, will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 1535 West Farmville Road, Auburn, AL, 36830 with interment in the church cemetery, Reverend Verly Dion Gilbert, Pastor, Reverend Walter Lee Jones, will officiate.
Ms. Smith, who passed away Friday, September 29, 2023 at the Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama, was born October 27, 1944 in Lee County, Alabama.
Public viewing will be Friday, October 6, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. β 6:00 p.m.
Mrs. Smith will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.
βNannyβ as she was affectionately known by family and friends, graduated from J.F. Drake High School. She was a beloved mother and grandmother. In her spare time, she enjoyed listening to music and relaxing with her favorite cup of tea or coffee.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory: one daughter, Bessie (Kevin) House of Opelika, AL; two sons, David Smith and Clarence (Tiffany) Smith both of Auburn, AL; nine grandchildren, Shundria Pitts, William (Breanna) Smith, Latrell (Brandy) Jenkins, Chernise Crawford, LaKayvian (Christopher) Rogers, Corey Hall, Nona (Cameron) Galloway, Saperia Brown, and Ayanna Fitch; fourteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sadie Smith of Eufaula, AL and Ruthie Smith of Auburn, AL; one brother, Joe Lewis Smith of Loachapoka, AL; devoted niece, Mattie Mae Martin of Loachapoka, AL; devoted nephew Henry Knight of Opelika, AL; devoted neighbor, Ruth Lockhart of Opelika, AL; a host of other relatives and friends.
