Funeral service for Mary Thomas, 81, of Salem, AL, will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Christ Temple Holiness Church, 610 Clanton Street, Opelika, Alabama 36801, Bishop Kenneth Carter, Sr. will officiate.

Mrs. Thomas, who passed away Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, Georgia, was born July 30, 1944, in Lee County, Alabama.

Public viewing will be Friday, July 17, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Mrs. Thomas will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.

She leaves to cherish her memory: seven children, Lessie Hinz of Opelika, AL, Johnny Rowell of Folkston, GA, Willie (Andriette) Rowell, William (Annie) Ashmore both of Opelika, AL, James Thomas of Salem, AL, Robin (Dion) Nowlin of Opelika, AL and Kimbry Thomas (Stafford) Edwards of Phenix City, AL; twenty-four grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; a host of great-great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Jones of Salem, AL; one brother, Calvin (Donna) Rowell of Opelika, AL; a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family of the late Mrs. Mary Randy Rowell Thomas acknowledges with grateful appreciation all acts of kindness, prayers, cards, telephone calls, flowers, and words of comfort extended to us during our time of bereavement. May God bless each of you.
