Funeral service for Mattie Spence, 81, of Waverly, AL, will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Harris Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Evergreen Cemetery, 1409 Monroe Avenue, Opelika, AL, 36801, Pastor Anthony McKissic will officiate.
Mrs. Spence, who passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024 in Loganville, Georgia, was born November 12, 1942, in Chambers County, Alabama.
Public viewing will be Tuesday, August 27, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory: her children, Ann (Wayne) Smith, Sandra Fields, Mattie Cunningham, Vanessa (Terry) Brown, Neil Monroe, Omar (Darlene) Monroe, David (Jamilla) Monroe, Marian Tigney, Baptiste Clemons and Cleveland Clemons; a niece, Cinesta Barnes; twenty-nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; a host of great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

I was so sad to see you go, but I'm glad that you're no longer suffering, it hurt me to know that I couldn't do anything to help you, you're in a better place mom, so glad Darlene and I could be with you in your final hours, take your rest Queen, your job here is done.
