Funeral services for Michael Slaughter, 33, of Opelika, AL, will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Harris Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Garden Hills Cemetery, 1218 Frederick Road, Opelika, AL 36830, Reverend Jerry Dowdell will officiate.

Mr. Slaughter, who passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at his home in Opelika, Alabama, was born February 17, 1990, in Lee County, Alabama.

Public viewing will be Friday, August 11, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Wayne’s memories will be forever cherished by: his mother, Lydia Slaughter of Opelika, AL; one brother, Terrence “T.K”Slaughter of Opelika, AL; two sisters, India “Shay” (Keon) Burton of Opelika, AL and Shante’ Cook of Auburn, AL; maternal grandmother, Alberta P. Slaughter of Opelika, AL; two nieces, Italy Slaughter of Opelika, AL and Semaj Cook of Auburn, AL; two nephews, Kenneth “Kenny” M. Burton of Opelika, AL and Larenz Cook of Auburn, AL; three maternal aunts, Wendy (Calvin) Brown of Waukegan, IL, Cynthia Slaughter of Wilmington, NC and Thomasine Slaughter of Opelika, AL; one maternal uncle, Clarence Slaughter Jr. of Opelika, AL; four paternal aunts, Jennifer (Joseph) Lockhart of Waverly, AL, Mary Cole and Helen (Jerry) Harper both of Opelika, AL; Vickie Drake of Auburn, AL; three paternal uncles, Dennis Brown of Atlanta, GA, Curtis Williams and Eric (Felicia) Williams of Opelika, AL; two paternal great aunts, Dorothy Minter of Opelika, AL and Barbara Flakes of San Antonio, Texas; one maternal great uncle, Clarence Pollard of Opelika, AL; one great aunt, Lisa Walwyn of South Carolina; devoted friends, Nicholas Seguin and Demetrius Turner; a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
