Had I known a few Sundays ago would b my last time chatting with you, I would have chatted longer, hugged you so ever tightly and told you how much I love you. I'll always remember you as my mom's lifelong, childhood friend....and beautician back in the day....moreso, I'll always remember your church lady fashion persona, always clad n your sharp suits with matching accessories (hats, gloves and shoes) Gonna miss those delicious pound cakes you would share with mom/myself. Gonna miss you Ms O! We love you but God loves you best. RIP. Cynt and Idella Dowdell
Sending heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Ophelia's loved ones. I will cherish the wonderful memories of her and the years of friendship she shared with my mother, as well as being her beautician. Those beautiful hats were a huge part of who she was. Prayers of God's comfort and peace for all.
Aunt Ophelia, I felt honored, proud, and comforted speaking to you over the years. I regret there were so few and in between. You were my mother's sister and although we will never know why my mother left Alabama, you carried pieces of my mother with you, and being in your presence felt like being wrapped in the warmth of our family's history. I now know why Alabama was so precious to her. I regret the moments we didn't get to share. I regret that my children will never fully know the grace, strength, and love that lived in you. But I am grateful for the time we did have, and I will hold it close. Rest in Paradise, Aunt Ophelia. Thank you for loving me, even in the short time we had.
