Funeral service for Ruby Lewis, 90, of Opelika, AL, will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Mount Pelia Missionary Baptist Church, 377 Lee Road 78, Camp Hill, AL 36850 with interment in the church cemetery, Reverend Otis Tyner, Jr. will officiate.
Mrs. Lewis, who passed away Friday, January 9, 2026 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL, was born August 15, 1935, in Buffalo, New York
Public viewing will be Friday, January 16, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Mrs. Lewis will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.
She leaves to cherish her memory: three children, Juanita (James) Beavers of Lafayette, AL, Donna Thomas of Opelika, AL and Eugene Black of Waverly, AL; grandchildren, LaDonna Lewis (Dontavious Moore), James Thomas both of Opelika, AL, Deanna Robinson (Emmanuel Dixon), Valnekus Robinson (Cortellius Menifee), Barbara Renee Thomas all of Auburn, AL, Lanita Thomas of Gainesville, GA and Ditika Beavers of Columbus, GA; one brother, Richard (Mattie) Maddox of Opelika, AL; one sister, Lela Lewis of Atlanta, GA; special friends of family, Ashley Alexander, Larickia Phillips, Nicole Finley, Jermaine Martin, Ledarius Dowdell and Nicole Sissoko; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
